Cruise ships are currently excluded from the Disability Discrimination Act, meaning that lines are not obliged by UK law to make their ships accessible. UK ports, on the other hand, are covered by the Act
In the US the rules are tighter, and in 2005 the US Supreme Court determined that the Americans with Disability Act protects passengers even on ships flagged to foreign ports as long as they operate in the US.
